[General description] Glenelg, from the jetty. Showing the tram line running from Jetty Road onto the jetty. The buildings around Moseley Square include the Town Hall, J. Martin Restaurant and Tea Rooms, Glenelg Bakery and the Pier Hotel. The sand level of the beach is almost as high as the foreshore. [On back of photograph] Glenelg viewed from the jetty 187? [General description] Large crowds have come out to see this parade, part of the popular Glenelg Carnival in 1930. The balcony of the Grand Residential Hotel is crowded as well as Jetty Road. There are many floats including one in the foreground which features a young lady standing in front of a shell wearing a sash (beauty contestant?) and water skiing behind a shark. Glenelg Jetty and foreshore - December 1930. The photograph shows crowds of people on the jetty, in boats and on the beach at Glenelg. The photograph was taken from the end of the jetty looking towards Glenelg where the Aquarium can be seen attached on to the northern side of the jetty. A myriad of moana beach shelters can be seen on the foreshore shading holidaymakers from the December sun.

Standing on top of the Old gum tree, Glenelg. A man can be seen standing on top of the bowed old gum tree at Glenelg while children stand on the lower branches. The Old Gum Tree is significant in South Australia's history as it was at this spot in 1836 that Governor Hindmarsh delivered the proclamation creating the colony of South Australia.

[General description] Looking along Jetty Road to the sea; the masts and spars of a ship can be seen in the distance. Single storey shops on the left are C. Hambridge, Draper and Outfitter; Glenelg, Brighton and Sturt Building Society and the Glenelg Photographic Rooms. The Congregational Church in the centre, designed by James MacGeorge opened in 1859. A new church, now known as St. Andrews by the Sea was built c. 1880 on the eastern side of this building which became the church hall. Tram lines run down the centre of the road. Group of women pioneers, Glenelg - December 29 1913. Approximately 40 women pioneers wearing their best finery and hats at Glenelg for the commemoration of the landing of pioneers in South Australia. Their husbands were enjoying a banquet inside (See B9725).

[General description] Town Hall, Glenelg. This building, with its two stories of wide verandahs was designed by Edmund Wright for use as an Institute, without the clock and tower which were added at a later time. The Glenelg Council bought the building in 1887 for use as a Town Hall. See B 43098 for a view of the building before the clock was added.
