Arnolds Shoe Repairs sits in the middle of the photograph with a fish and chip cafe next door. Mr LM Arnold was the proprietor of the Supreme Shoe Repairs business at number 13 Adelaide Arcade. The premises in this photograph advise customers that the business had moved to Coromandel Place.

Left side of two storey building is 49 yards east of Young Street.' [General description] A row of two storey stone buildings with iron lace decoration on the verandah. They are occupied by small shops including a fish shop, the Farmers and Settlers Association, and G.A. Bonnett, Saddlers. In 2012 the Bonnett family still own saddlery stores in Adelaide.

The three storey building houses the Norwich Union Fire Office, Citizens Life Assurance Company Limited, Calders Agency Hotel Brokers, a firm of electrical and consulting engineers. Next door is Matters and Company, and then stands D Politis and Company, Fish and Oyster Saloon and Restaurant.

Grote Street, Adelaide, north side, on the 19 December,1923. The photo was taken soon after the erection of Short's Auction Mart which is 65 yards east of Pitt Street, with a frontage of 14 yards. The tenant occupying most of the ground floor is Cocking's Fish Shop. J. Meyer, Tailors, is on the left.

For a portion of this building prior to alterations see B 7387. The Royal visit occurred in Adelaide at the time of this photograph - hence the Union Jacks and bunting fluttering in the streets.

The Globe Dining Rooms, 21 Hindley Street. Alice Jerrems operated the rooms from 1901 to 1922. Born Alice Kearns on 9/8/1870, Alice and her second husband Arthur had one daughter, Edith in 1897. Alice died on the 17 September 1936 and is buried in West Terrace Cemetery. (see Advertiser 18.9.1936 pg.16).
