Summary

[General description] City businesses from left to right: Part of the Crown and Sceptre Hotel, the Fish, Oyster and Grill Saloon, A.F. Shelton's Ham Shop and the King's Theatre. A tradesman's horse and cart stands outside the Hotel. [On back of photograph] 'Acre 452 / King William Street, east side / August 19th 1927 / The two storey premises on the right of the oyster saloon were converted into a bank in 1928. See B 5122 / Near side of King's Theatre is 17 yards north of Carrington Street. Frontage of bank and ham shop: 13 yards. Frontage of oyster saloon: 6.5 yards'.

A 1927 Morris Cowley Utility (with custom business storage box) owned by E.W. Pike, high grade butcher, is parked outside of the Ham Shop. This commercial derivative of the Morris Cowley car is approx 6 months old, with the body being constructed by Holden.
