An engraved wood block featuring an illustration by Paul Landacre, the print from which was used in Douglas Dunstan's 1963 edition of 'On the Origin of Species' on page 139. The artwork comprises a composition of a winged fish, a bat with wings outstretched, and three penguins. The block has been cut in the left hand (right on print) lower corner and another piece of wood block with an image of a smaller penguin has been tacked to the main block to fill the space. This additional part has been produced in red ink, instead of black, in the print.

Includes a letter written by Campbell to 'Bill', a typescript document written by a group of State authorities outlining rules for visitors, and a newspaper clipping showing the location on Lake Eyre. Also contains a number of black and white photographs of Donald Campbell, his support crew, and the Bluebird at Lake Eyre and Muloorina Station.

Letter addressed to philanthropist Louisa Da Costa concerning her investments in Adelaide

A letter from Louisa Da Costa's Adelaide solicitor, Alfred Spence of 12 Currie Street, dated 8 December 1881, addressed to Miss Da Costa in London 'Per RMS Rohilla via Brindisi'. The letter is handwritten in ink over two pages, with the third page left blank, and the address panel on the outer side franked with two South Australia postage stamps and with two 'Registered' hand stamps and circular arrival stamp 'London JA 18 1882'. Endorsed in Louisa Da Costa's hand 'date 8 December 1881, received 18 January 82' and 'answered 6 February 1882'. In the letter, Adelaide solicitor Alfred Spence updates Louisa on various property, banking and financial matters. The letter shows how closely involved Louisa continued to be with the affairs of her many investments in South Australia, which had been established through purchasing property with her brother during their time in Adelaide, decades earlier. Among other matters, the letter discusses a release of property to Sir John Morphett; another to James Munro; and the propspect of reveiving compensation from the Central Road Board for two acres taken from one of Louisa's land sections at Glenelg.

Compiled and drawn in the Office of the Post Master General and Superintendent of Telegraphs in 1873, this map shows the boundaries of Hundreds and Counties of the northern most section of the telegraph and includes natural features of the country from surveys and explorations made by the Surveyor General, telegraph construction parties and others. There are manuscript additions showing the route of McMinn's exploring party, signed by Jno.H.P. in 1877.
