ON93563. 108.0 x 22.4 x 10.6. Built 1881 Westacott and Sons, Barnstaple. First registered at Sydney in 1887. At Fremantle in 1897, at Port Adelaide in 1899 by Messrs. Seymour and in Nov. 1900. Owned by JJ Craig, the vessel was registered in Auckland. That register closed in 1909 with 'Broken up'.

The 'Gulnare' in Roper River, Northern Territory

The wooden schooner 'Gulnare', 64 tons, in Roper River, Northern Territory [wooden 2 mast schooner, 151 tons, ON41724, 103.6 x 24.2 x 10.7. Built 1856. Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, formerly owned in London and arrived in Port Adelaide Dec. 1863, having been purchased by Captain Alex McCoy and Mr E Jenkins, registered Port Adelaide as 1/1864. Sold to the South Australian Government 1869 for use in connection with the Overland Telegraph Line, and while conveying supplies to the Roper River working party, was stranded on a reef near the Vernon Islands (about 30 miles from Darwin) and after survey was condemned in October 1871. The series comprises 15 albums housing 1,973 photographs, most of which were taken by photographer W.A. Robjohns ca.1920-1966. Album covers were numbered and labelled by Robjohns. The sequence is incomplete, however, as only volumes 1-9, 12-14, 15, 20 and 23 have been donated. Robjohns' brief descriptions of content on the covers and spines are incomplete. For further descriptions of place names and subjects contained in each album, SEE details below. The albums contain small black and white prints, mostly undated, with captions by W.R. Robjohns. Also sepia and postcard prints, and a few hand-tinted prints. A small number of images were taken by other photographers, several of whom have been identified by Robjohns. Images depict Adelaide suburbs, city scenes and country towns, with an emphasis on rural landscapes, parks and reserves, rivers, reservoirs, streets, houses, churches, businesses and shop fronts, and public celebrations and processions. Also included are images of the Robjohns family on picnics and holiday outings, and their homes, cars and pets. A number of photos were duplicated or enlarged by Robjohns and appear in more than one album.

London to Adelaide souvenir

Souvenir flag issued to commemorate Ross and Keith Smith's successful flight from London to Adelaide. It features a drawing of the Smiths' Vickers Vimy plane in black on a beige coloured fabric, with a silky fringe, and the words 'London to Adelaide 1920' in gold paint. Both Smiths, together with their crew, Wally Shiers and Jim Bennett, have autographed the flag in pencil. The flag was subsquently mounted in a wooden frame, with three contemporary newspapers cuttings attached to the back.

A collection of photos relating to Thomas Chappell's time serving in the Middle East. Each image has a brief caption: many show military activities - vehicles such as trucks, tanks and horse-drawn carriages; prisoners of war; guns; captured planes; donkeys, mules and camels used for transportation; servicemen and army camps. Kaines Collection

Collection of 15 photograph albums, containing 2943 photographs taken by Jack Kaines from the time he finised school until the end of World War II. The photographs act as a pictorial documentary of his life showing the places he traveled to around South Australia and Australia, including many roadtrips and daytrips visiting friends and family. Many of the photographs show the various cars that he owned. The photographs taken during World War II initially show many other Servicemen, but subsequently become mostly tourist shots. Except for a small number of photographs taken in Fiji, the collection ends with his war photographs, and the last 30 years of his life is not captured in this collection. A selection of photographs from his albums have been digitised and can be searched on PRG 1638.
