A church can be seen in the foreground which is possibly the former Wesleyan church built in the Gothic Revival style in 1866. It was constructed from Auburn bluestone and was later used as a Sunday School when the Wesleyans and Methodists merged. It was sold to the Catholic Church at about the time this photograph was taken

The railway went through Brinkworth to Gladstone with junction lines to Snowtown, Kadina and Wallaroo.

Roman Catholic Church, Crystal Brook was established in 1853 when the Brothers from Sevenhill in the Clare Valley started visiting the area. The Church, St John Regis was opened in 1879. The church became St Stanislaus School in 1926 with the arrival of the Good Samaritan Sisters.
