Connor, seated on the far right of the photo.The occasion was the presentation of 'the Christmas gift of Her Royal Highness the Princess Mary to the men of the 74th Infantry who were actually on military duty on December 25, 1914, as a momento for services rendered to His Majesty the King. The gift consisted of an ornate gilt box, in which was a neat cartridge-case pencil and the message, "With best wishes for a victorious new year, from the Princess Mary and friends at home" ' (piles of the boxes can be seen on the table). Other photos from this event were published in 'The Critic', Wednesday 12 January 1916, page 4; an article about it appeared in 'The Journal', Saturday 18 March 1916, page 2.

The ceremony for the female wing was performed by Lady Galway and the building is now named after her. The foundation stone for the male wing was opened by Sir Chalres Goode. The ceremony was held on the afternoon of Saturday, 3 August 1918.

The Arrival of Sir Henry Galway on the "Marion" to lay the foundation stone of the Blanchetown Lock on 5 June 1915. "An Army of Politicians" attended this grand occasion. There were 120 passengers including crew with the official party who boarded the "Marion" in Murray Bridge after travelling by rail from Adelaide. The William R Randell Lock was the first link in the chain in the development of harnessing and controlling the River Murray. The lock was named in honour of the pioneer of river navigation in the 1880s

Opening of Drill Hall, Unley

Lieutenant Colonel Dollman salutes His Excellency the Governor, Sir Henry Galway, on his arrival at the new drill hall and parade ground of the 74th Battalion (Boothby), Thomas Street, Unley. After formerly declaring the hall open the Governor presented Lieutenant Colonel Dollman with a volunteer decoration for having given 20 years continuous service. 13 March 1915. The man immediately to the Governor-General's right is Colonel Irving, South Australian Commandant.
