Block mounted '25 Years of Penfolds Grange Hermitage' poster depicting labels of Grange vintages from 1952 to 1975, autographed by Max Schubert in 1982. The print reproduces 25 labels of this world famous wine. The small amount of text on the print reads: 'The 1976 vintage Grange Hermitage is a landmark for Penfolds and the Australian wine industry. It represents the 25th consecutive release of a wine acclaimed as one of the world's finest. This recognition is a result of the dedication and foresight of Max Schubert in producing a style unique amongst the world's great wines.' "Morialta" - the home of the Hon. John Baker, pastoralist and parliamentarian. This mansion at Magill was built in 1847 and the surrounding vineyards produced more than 30,000 litres by 1860

Stepney: west corner of Magill Road and Stepney Street. The two storey shop on the corner is CJ Witty, Baker and Storekeeper and these people can be seen standing in the doorway. A horse drawn carriage and a cart are standing outside the premises.

This mansion was built in 1898 for George Hunt who was a merchant owning four large shops on Rundle Street opposite Adelaide Arcade. He built his mansion on a block of land previously owned by George Morphett. It was surrounded by a magificent garden.

St. George's Church

St. George's Church at Woodforde, Magill was built in 1848 on land provided by Captain John Duff. The foundation stone was laid in 1847. It was the first church consecrated in South Australia. The stones for the church are water worn as they were removed from the nearby Fourth Creek. The photograph shows the grave of John Hawkins 1792-1866 standing prominently in front of the porch.

Henry Paas Denton, first chief Draftsman of the Lands Titles Office in South Australia. His appointment valid from July 2, 1858. In 1844 he was a partner of Bullaparinga 400 acre farm, near Rapid Bay, which grew wheat, potatoes and raised cattle. He later moved to Magil where he was a stalwart of St Georges Church.

Ena Mabel Doswell (right) at her home, 23 Kingston Terrace, Medindie. The house was purchased for Mabel in 1924 by the Mortlock family, in return for her providing hostess functions when F. Ranson Mortlock was in Adelaide. Mabel continued to live at Kingston Tce. after Ranson Mortlock died in 1937, moving to Magill in 1954. Mabel lived at Kingston Tce. with her companion Rita Templer until 1940.

Alexander Borthwick Murray

[General description] Head and shoulders portrait in three quarter view of Alexander Borthwick Murray. He emigrated from Scotland, arriving at Holdfast Bay in the 'Lady Lillford' in 1839. Being an experienced sheepman he eventually became a prominent pastoralist, mainly breeding fine Merino sheep. He was a long-term parliamentarian serving in the Houses of Assembly and Legislative Council from 1862 through to 1888 when he retired to his home 'Murray Park' at Magill.

Harrison Weir, Government Printer was born at Norwood February 26, 1868 and was enrolled as a scholar at Norwood Public School on its opening day. Formerly at Vauxhall House School, Magill Road, St. Peters. He entered the Government Printing Office on January 29, 1881 serving in the clerical branch until 1885, when he was apprenticed to learn the trade of printing. He was Overseer in 1912, Superintendent in 1929 and Government Printer in 1927. He retired in 1935. Altogether, he served in the Government Printing Office for 53 years. He held the position of Hononary Secretary of St Peters Institute for 20 years, Secretary of Norwood Church of Christ Literary Society for some years and was President of the Flinders Street Baptist Literary Society, with which he was associated for more than 30 years. He was editor of 'Baptist Record' for 30 years.

Mr. Gilbert Wood and his wife Mrs Ann Wood (nee Fraser) had four daughters and three sons and they lived at Seaton Cottage on Magill Road. Gilbert Williamson Wood (1828 - 1886) was born in the Shetland Islands and came to Australia as chief mate on the brig "Seaton". In 1876 he founded the company G Wood and Company with premises in Rundle Street, Adelaide and Lipson Street, Port Adelaide. He was a deacon of Clayton Congregational Church for seventeen years
