World's End Hotel, Magill

World's End Hotel, Magill on the corner of Magill Road and Pepper Street. At the time of this photograph the proprietor was SW Neville and he held this position during 1885. The two storey bluestone building has a small balcony above the front entrance. A hitching post and water trough stand outside the hotel.

Panoramic view at Magill showing the Magill Industrial School and Orphanage at the left in the background. The government bought over 100 acres from the Woodforde Estate in the 1850's. Children were admitted until the end of 1869. The building is of Italian Gothic style and from 1869 was used as a receiving home for state children. The photograph shows orchards and gardens growing on the hillside at Magill

Penfold's winery and vineyards, Magill was established in 1844 by Christopher and Mary Rawson Penfold. They brought vine cuttings from England and France to plant on land in the village of Magill. The photograph taken in approximately 1917 shows the buildings of the winery surrounded by vineyards and empty fields. One house can be seen near the end of the driveway to the winery. The empty grasslands stretch down to the inner suburbs of Adelaide
