Charles Barton O'Reilly (1871-1960) Register staff member. The Register was originally known as the South Australian Gazette and Colonial Register and later the South Australian Register was South Australia's first newspaper. It was first published in London in June 1936 and moved to Adelaide in 1837. O'Reilly was also editor and part owner of the Kapunda Herald

Fanny Pascoe. According to a researcher, Fanny Lucretia Pascoe was born 26 April 1865 and died 12 August 1940. Fanny was never married and had a habadashery shop in Kapunda. She is the first child of 11 children. Her parents were James Henry Pascoe, born 8 August 1839, died 12 October 1907 and Fanny Pascoe born 9 November 1843, died 10 October 1932.

Miltinda 'Bobby' Pilti, possibly of Ngadjuri heritage, was one of the Aboriginal men convicted and executed for the murder of the Rainbird family at Kapunda. He was hanged June 7, 1861.

Carrington Smedley was born in Nottinghamshire and served an apprenticeship in the drapery business. He arrived in South Australia in 1848 with his wife and two daughters on board "Thomas Lowry". He set up business in Kapunda and owned land there. He was elected to the South Australian House of Assembly in 1857. Harriet and Carrington had six children. Later he was remarried to Mary Peacock and they lived at the Peacock mansion "Palm House" at Hackney and at "Torrens Villa" at Semaphore

Samuel William (Will)& Janet Strawbridge. Samuel William was born on 7 March 1859 in Kapunda and died on the 26 December 1934 in Terowie. Janet Strawbridge (nee Hams) was born on 1 February 1862 in South Rhine and died 23 June 1934 in Terowie. Janet's parents were Edward (Ned) & Jane Hams (nee Smith) who lived in Terowie.

Dr. E. Waddy: Born at Dudley, England on 27 August 1815. Came to South Australia in 1846 as a Medical Practitioner and settled at Kapunda. He married Jane Russell on 11 January 1847 at Trinity Church, Adelaide. He died at Strathalbyn on 31 October 1878.

The residence of Dr William Talbot Clindening on North Terrace. Born in Belfast, Ireland on 6 January 1825, Dr Clindening arrived in South Australia aboard the 'Gipsy' in 1853. He practised medicine at Middleton, Mt Gambier and Kapunda prior to settling in Adelaide. The right side of house is 79 yards east of Morphett Street. See B 7379 for the building erected on this site in 1937. Behind the house Mrs F. Worley's Boarding House on Hindley Street can be seen. The Horsell family ran a boarding house on the left hand side of the building from 1878 and then took over the whole building in 1884 when Dr Clindening closed his practice there. Franklin Street, North Side in the late 1860's Looking North-east. The balcony on left faces west The side of the house faces south. The house stood back from Franklin Street about 8yds. and its back (on the right) was about 55 yds. west of Morphett St. Owned & occupied by Joseph Mellor(1808-1880) (manufacturer of agricultural implements) It was demolished in 1890's. Mellor and Brothers was a farm implement manufacturers in Adelaide circa 1868. Branches operated from Franklin Street, Kapunda, Jamestown and Quorn.

South Australian Fire Brigade headquarters, Wakefield Street, Adelaide. Lewis William Robertson is front row, 4th on right. He worked in the Wakefield Street branch for 13 years when he was offered the position of Officer-in-charge of the Kapunda station in 1911.

[General description] This Church was designed by Edmund W. Wright and E. A. Hamilton, in the Venetian Ionic style. It was opened in February 1861 and remained in an unfinished state until its completion in 1872 when the tower was added. The railings enclosing the building were from the foundry of Mr. H. B. Hawke of Kapunda. Compare with B 2855 with a view taken in 1860. [On back of photograph] 'Acre 1026 / Congregational Church, Brougham Place, North Adelaide / Before 1927 / (Tower added in 1872)'.

[General description] This is the first section of the House of Assembly by architects Edmund Wright and Lloyd Tayler whose design won a competition in 1873 but due to difficulties with the site and costs was not completed until 1889, a year after Wright's death. It is an impressive two-storey Kapunda marble clad building with granite basement, in the Victorian Academic Classical style. It features four tall columns in front of its entrance, with four corresponding urns on top of its balustraded parapet. The eastern section is yet to come (1939) The original design included a large dome but this was never built due to the expense. / Right side is 43 yards west of king William Road / Frontage 34 yards'.

The foundation stone for the Wesleyan Lecture Hall, later Methodist Church hall, George Street, Thebarton. Made of Kapunda marble it was donated by Mr. J. Shaw, inscribed by W.H. Martin and laid by "Mrs John Colton" (Mary Colton nee Cutting) on 19 March 1887.
