House occupied by Robert Thomas, founder of the "Register', and his wife Mary, who came to South Australia on the Africaine in 1836. A woman's face is framed by an attic window of this early Adelaide cottage, which is covered with vines. The cottage, situated in Hindley Street, Adelaide is probably Rhantregwnwyn Cottage. The photo is very similar to one which appears in Mary Thomas' 'Diary and Letters', p. 134, and described on the same page.
