Mrs Elizabeth Webb Nicholls (1850-1943) is remembered as a social reformer, women's activist, women's suffragist and editor of "Our Federation" the journal of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. She played a large part in women getting the vote in South Australia in 1896. She became victorious when her platform for 6.0'clock closing succeeded in 1915. She justified all reforms on temperance and social purity.

Mrs Jane O'Halloran, nee Waring of Newry County Durham was the second wife of Thomas Shuldham O'Halloran. Thomas was the first Police Commissioner and first Police Magistrate of South Australia. The family sailed to South Australia and established Lizard Lodge Farm at his namesake O'Halloran Hill. Jane and Thomas had three sons Thomas, Henry and George and a daugher who married Mr F Wright.

James Hamilton Parr

James Hamilton Parr, was considered one of Adelaide's most prominent auctioneers during the 1870s and 1880s. The son of a prominent Lancashire solicitor, Parr arrived in South Australia in 1854. He married Elizabeth Ann Payne on 14 April 1857. Together they had six children, Horton (1858), Magdalen (1864), Ella (1866), Frances (1868), Georgina (1872-1873), and James (1874). He died near his Aldgate home on 24 July 1906.

He was sole partner with Thomas Elder in the well known Adelaide firm Elder Smith & Co. and was director and shareholder of several pastoral, mining, Insurance companies and banks as well as the South Australian Company. He was an active philanthropist, giving large amounts to public institutions. He was greatly repected by all and is said to have refused a knighthood.

Giles Edward Strangways was a pioneer of the British colony of South Australia. He was an associate of John Finnis and Charles Sturt. He was an uncle of HBT Strangways, Premier of South Australia. He emigrated on the "Buffalo" and was one of the first purchasers of land in the colony. He married Kate Jane and they had one son and four daughters. By 1856 Giles was living at Port Elliot and was a surveyor. He was living at Kensington when he died in 1906
