[General description] People are lining the rails of the upper decks of the three storey pavilion at the end of the Glenelg Jetty. According to a researcher, it was built by Robert Ernest Stanley, (born 1861, died 1926) an Unley builder but historian Geoffrey Manning states that 'The pavilion was erected by Messrs Sigalis & Company at a cost of nearly £2,300 and opened by the Premier, Thomas Price, on 26 October 1907'.

He was also the President of the Henley Sharks Football Club and held events in his tea rooms. The distinguished gentleman standing to the left of the door to the Tea Rooms, Bakers, Grocers, Post Office is possibly Mr AW Ralph himself

Frenchman's Rock at Hog Bay
Three men pose for the photographer at the Frenchman's Rock near Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island : on right Captain Patrick Weir of the 'Governor Musgrave', in centre is Mr. Berry of the Marine Board. The rock was inscribed by members of Nicolas Baudin's crew in 1803 when looking for water at the site. [On back of photograph] 'Frenchman's Rock, Hog Bay. 1907-12 / (A protective structure over the rock was erected in 1906. RGS Proc. v.8, p 55-58)' (Another hand) 'The inscription is obviously "touch up" and is incorrect in spelling' (Another hand) 'Presented by Mr. P. J. Caterer'.


Hog Bay Jetty, Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island
[General description] This view of Hog Bay shows the Karatta, moored at the end of the Hog Bay jetty. Passengers are already boarding. The Karatta was Kangaroo Island's lifeline, being the main passenger and freight vessel plying between Port Adelaide and KIngscote from 1907 until 1961. The ship was captained by Captain Pearson.
