Carnival at the Gilberton Swimming Reserve, January 1914, with people making their way down the bank, spectators on the river's edge and a tent which acted as a changing shed in the foreground. A later annotation reads 'the Gilberton Swimming Club opening day', but this may not be correct - this photo appeared in 'The Chronicle' on Saturday 10 March 1917, page 29, with two other photos under the general heading 'Swimming at Gilberton'.
