Half-plate glass negative of Private Charles Samuel Moore in World War One Australian military uniform, including slouch hat and boots. He is wearing a great coat with a bandolier across one shoulder and a strap across the other, with a belt, and a helmet strapped to his back. He is standing outdoors in a field. Written in pencil along the edge of the glass plate: 'P.R.T. Moore 29/9th LH. 5/7...Post'.

Historical information

No. 3425 Private Charles Samuel Moore, born at the Tetalpa Gold Fields, South Australia, son of Charles Marcus and Rebecca Moore, worked as a cleaner before he enlisted with the AIF on 26 February 1917 at the age of 18. He served with the 9th Light Horse Regiment, 29th Reinforcement, and embarked from Melbourne on board the HMAT A73 'Commonwealth' on 2 November 1917. He transferred to the 3rd Light Horse Field Ambulance in December 1917, served in the Middle East, and returned to Australia on 15 May 1919. He died on 7 July 1952.
