Summary

[General description] The Jervois Wing of the State Library (named after Governor Jervois who laid the foundation stone in 1879). It was renamed the Mortlock WIng in 1986 after a generous bequest of John Andrew Tennant Mortlock paid for extensive renovations. Note the gaslight on the right [On back of photograph] 'Public Library / North Terrace / Eastern face of the building prior to the erection of the South Australian Museum / 1889'.
