Summary

[General description] The newly completed Elder Hall, built from freestone. It is in the Florentine Gothic style, designed by architect Frank John Naish and constructed by North Adelaide-born master builder Walter Charles Torode. The foundation stone was laid by Governor Buxton on 26 September 1898 and the building was opened with a concert on 27th April, 1900. Part of the Exhibition Building is seen on the right. [On back of photograph] 'The Elder Conservatorium of Music / University of Adelaide / About 1899'.
