Summary

Bentham Street, west side showing Kennion Hall, premises of the Boys Brigade. A note on the photograph states "exact position can not be ascertained, even from the City Council's rate book". The Boys Brigate established in 1886 and incorporated in 1897 has named the building Kennion Hall. The 1890s saw a lull in financial and community support which threatened the organisation's future. These difficulties were overcome through the tremendously generous donation of 450 pounds by Bishop George Kennion, which enabled land to be purchased in Bentham Street for new Club premises.
