Summary

Baptist Church, Flinders Street, Adelaide. Part of the manse can be seen on the right. In 1861 a Baptist minister, Silas Mead, came out from England to minister to local Baptists. He was so successful that, inspired by his leadership, the congregation decided to build this large church in Flinders Street, which was opened on 19 May 1863. The extreme right of the view is 36 yards west of Divett Place.
