Mrs and Captain Johnson [?].

Mrs and Captain Johnson [?].

Studio portrait, thought to be of Mrs Johnson and Joseph Johnson, previous owners of 'Frog Moor'. According to a researcher, Joseph Johnson Esq (1805-1877) of the Reedbeds is a different person to Captain Joseph Johnson of Port Wakefield. Joseph Johnson Esq was in Adelaide from around 1839, and stayed until approx 1860. He was a wealthy educated gentleman. T. S. Gill has drawn this man in his Heads Of The People series. He is the godfather of Edward John Keele of Lockleys, who lived with him in England while at school. Captain Joseph Johnson had an entirely different upbringing, and a very amazing life, but lived at a different level of society, and arrived in South Australia at a later time.
