Historical information

Information from a researcher: '[This] is an E class number 14, built new for SAR by Avonside Engine Co and in service on SAR September 1865. It was a copy of E 10 and E 13 bought secondhand from the Melbourne & Essendon Railway. The other members of the class were secondhand from the Canterbury Provincial Railway (NZ) in 1881/1882, one of these also being originally from the Melbourne & Essendon Railway'.
