Summary

Wedding portrait of 'Ern' (Herbert Ernest) Hall and Daisy Nash with their bridal party, friends and family. They were married on 24 April 1907 at St Bartholomew's Church, Norwood, by the Rev. Canon Andrews. Clara Denford Black, mother of Marjorie Andrew, was bridesmaid, standing on the left side next to the groom, holding a large bouquet of flowers and wearing a black hat. The group is gathered outdoors, in a garden.

Historical information

Herbert Ernest Hall (1883-1950) was born in 1883 in Norwood to Henry (Harry) Hall and wife Charlotte nee Howitt. In 1907 he married Daisy Nash (1883-1927), daughter of Joseph George Nash and Emma Maria Barrow, at St Bartholomew's Church, Norwood, the same church his parents were married in on 26 April 1877. They had two children: Maxwell Ernest (1908-1976), and Jean Frances (b.1909). Henry Hall arrived in Australia as a toddler, with his family, who travelled from Boulogne, France, arriving in 1849 aboard the 'Florentia'. Herbert Hall joined his grandfather's softdrink manufacturers, Geo. Hall & Sons, and later became a director of the company. Daisy Hall died of illness in 1927. Herbert Ernest Hall died on 28 January 1950, aged 66, killed by his son-in-law Philip Trythall Horton, at his home in Norwood.
