Part of a collection comprising digital copies of artefacts, diary and photographs relating to Ernest Arthur Frost's WWI service with the Third Australian Light Horse, and Frost family photographs.

Historical information

William Thomas Frost (1859-1945) was born at Chinkford (later known as Manoora). He was the second son of Jabez Frost and his wife Mary Ann Frost (nee Taylor), who were pioneers of the Manoora district in South Australia. From a newspaper notice following his death in Prospect: "William T. Frost was a well-known primary producer in the Lower North...was a great horse lover and adjudicated at country shows. He was also a successful sheep breeder. He was a former member of the Saddleworth District Council, chairman of Manoora Institute committee, a justice of the peace, and a prominent figure in all town [Manoora] affairs".

Williams wife Elizabeth Anna [Annie] Frost (nee Leeder) was also from a well established Mid-North family, descending from the Barratt's, although Annie's name appears as 'Annie Elizabeth Frost' on her gravestone. Annie laid the foundation stone the Manoora Institute in 1884 prior to her marriage to William.
