The children are Ida May (b. 1911), Laurie John (b.1915), Gwendoline Menmuir (b.1913), and Jean Miller (b. 1907).

Translated it reads 'Dear Wallie, Forgive me for not having replied sooner. I was pleased to receive your little card safely. I lost your address. I am glad to know that you are well. Allison met Jeanne when he was billeted with other soldiers at her grandmother's home in Hesdin l'Abbe.
