Summary

The wooden ketch 'Capella', 73 tons, in an unidentified harbour. [wooden 2 mast ketch, ON57532, 73 tons. 82.4 x 20.7 x 6.9 built 1873 RD Cuthbert, Franklin River. Twin aux engine fitted 1921.Owners: Richard Honey, reg. Port Adelaide: August 1893 W. Russell and Partners 1921. CC Dale and NT Dale. The Customs Department was advised in 1927 that the vessel had been destroyed in December 1925 and the registration was cancelled. Then in 1932 R. Fricker and Co and two others re-register the vessel. The registration was transferred to Port Moresby in 1969 and it has been reported that the vessel lays derelict in Port Moresby]

From the volume titled 'South Australian Owned Coasters, Part I'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
