Summary

The iron barque 'H.C. Richards', 822 tons, at Port Adelaide [iron 3 mast barque (originally ship rigged), 822 gross tons, 766 net tons. 185.0 x 29.8 x 21.1 Built 1863 (10) WH Potter and Co. Liverpool as the iron ship rigged vessel 'Emily Faithfull' 796 gross tons. ON47609, which was renamed 'Iron Queen' about 1870 and then owned by GH Fletcher and Co. registered Liverpool. Sold 1893 and became 'HC Richards', owners C Hannevig, registered Christiania, Norway].

From the volume titled 'British Owned Iron and Steel Barques (I)'.

This image is from the A.D. Edwardes Collection of about 8,000 photographs, mostly of sailing ships from around the world, taken between about 1865 and 1920. Mounted in 91 albums, the photographs are arranged by country of ownership, with some special volumes such as 'Shipping at Port Adelaide' and 'South Australian outports'. Additional information, giving the history of the ships where known, has been provided by maritime historian, Ron Parsons.
