Captain Hugh King of 'Gem' left Morgan every Tuesday, after the arrival of the Adelaide train, for Wentworth, according to an advertisement in 'Adelaide Punch', 12 July 1879. From 1888, Hugh King and George Chaffey were owners of 'Gem'.
