Historical information

Mr Henry Charles Wache was the caretaker at the Torrens Island Quarantine Station and his wife was Lillian. Newspaper reports for 1901 identify two instances in involving the quarantine of ships in 1901 - the 'Ormuz' on 21 May for smallpox, and returning troops on the 'Brittanic' on 27 July for measles - but there don't appear to be any reports of ship wrecks at Largs Bay in that year.
