Summary

Wonga Shoal Lighthouse was built in 1901 and was an iron structure on screw piles with accommodation for two keepers. The revolving light weighing eleven tons floated on a bath of mercury and was visible for nineteen miles. It was destroyed by the ship Dimsdale crashing into it in 1912. The two keepers were drowned in the accident.
