Summary

[General description] Members of the South Australian Mounted Rifles, the second contingent to be sent to the South African war. The (mostly seated) men are arranged on a steep slope in tiers with the bugler in the centre of the front row. This group are wearing their helmets. [On back of photograph] 'South African War 1899-1902 / Second South Australian contingent / Departed January 26th, 1900 / Reproduced in the Chronicle February 3rd, 1900'.
