Summary

[General description] Aylesbury Dairy, Groceries etc. is sited on the corner of Carrington and Cardwell Streets. It is a typical suburban corner shop with advertisement for Bushell's Coffee painted on its side wall and billboards displaying newsaper headlines propped in front of the shop. The headline for the Advertiser on that day says: 'Italy invades Albania'. The building on the right is St. John's Spiritual Church, erected 1925. For a photograph of the building before the middle part was renovated, see B 2723. [On back of photograph] 'Acre 458 / Carrington Street, south side / 8th April 1939 / The right wing was added to the shop in 1938 before a photograph could be taken / The near side of the shop abuts Cardwell Street; frontage: 13 yards'.
