Photograph of Hugh Mills in World War I soldier's uniform standing in front of a hedge. Handwriting reads 'Yours truly somewhere in France. 27.6.17.'. Reverse of photograph is printed as a postcard; note reads: 'June 27.1917. Dear Will I am sending you a card of yours truly, what do you think of it not too bad is it for France not a Rundle street soldier now. Hugh.' Address reads 'Mr W. McPharlin, Balaklava, South Australia, Australia'.

Historical information

The postcard is addressed to William Peter McPharlin, son of John McPharlin and Mary Jane McPharlin (nee Kirkland) of Balaklava. Hugh Mills and his wife Dulcie also had a small holding on the outskirts of Balaklava.
