Vertical consumption only

Vertical consumption only

In early October 2020 the SA Government changed the rules in hospitality venues. 'Vertical consumption' of alcohol was permitted at licensed venues as long as the consumption was undertaken outside - such as in a beer garden. The Grace Emily Hotel in Waymouth Street put this sign near the door to their outside area. A yellow card was issued to a patron who inadvertently stood for a moment while consuming a drink inside. The patron never made that mistake again for fear of being issued a 'red card'! The Grace Emily Hotel was previously known as the Launceston. The name changed in 1998.
