General notes

There were evidently two vessels by this name in Australia, one of 351 tons, the other of 1129 tons. An image of the larger vessel is held in the State Library of Queensland collection (#3708). The location was also Port Adelaide, about 1875. The State Library of Victoria holds an enlarged view of the ship in B 7719 which is described as being of 351 tons. The angle of the photograph does not make it clear which 'Southern Belle' is in the view. Information from a researcher: 'Ron Ritter's specialised knowledge of Port Adelaide postcards enables this view to be dated c1905'.
