General notes

These images are part of a large collection of slides taken by Colin Brooks during his career as a geologist. The State Library of South Australia holds his images relating to South Australia, including Adelaide, Adelaide Hills, Central and North Flinders Ranges, Roxby Downs and Olympic Dam, Spilsby Island, Wardang, Robe, Kingston, Ulooloo, Hindmarsh Island, Minjibbie, Basin Dam, Waukaringa, Mount Grainger, and Pine Creek.

Historical information

Geologist C.C. (Colin) Brooks was initially granted short term tenure on EL 2995 [exploration lease 2995] in 2002. Early and subsequent results encouraged the extension of the lease with a final expiry date on 8 August 2007. EL 3938 was the successor title over the same area which expired on 4 October 2012. The lease occupied about 525 square kilometres lying some 200-250 km north of Adelaide, spanning the Barrier Highway (A32, Adelaide to Broken Hill), from about 5 km to 15 km east, from Hallett (south) to Terowie (north). These hamlets and Whyte Yarcowie are within the area. Reports with maps are on open file with D.S.D. (formerly PIRSA and before that the Department of Mines); red stickers on original slides indicate that digital images were submitted with reports to the S.A. Government.
