The back bears the inscription 'Best wishes / from your old pal Jim / 33rd Reinforcements 9th L Horse. No. 3653 - 33 - 9th'. Identified as No. 3653 Private James Alfred Creaser, who enlisted with the AIF on 16 February 1917 aged 18 years, and served with the 9th Light Horse Regiment, 33rd Reinforcement, embarking from Sydney, NSW, on board the 'SS Port Darwin' on 30 April 1918. He returned to Australia in May 1919.

Andrew / 5th Pnr Battn [Pioneer Battalion] / A.I.F. Keswick Hospital 3/10/17'. According to a researcher, Colin Lawson Andrews was born on 28 February 1892 at Laura. He lost a leg due to injuries sustained, and walked with the aid of crutches. He married Marjory Starling in 1924 and lived at Unley. He died in 1941.
