View of Rossell family members outside 'Southfield' at Renmark. Standing (left to right): unknown, unknown, Hermione Rossell Heaton, Henry A. Rossell, Norman Rossell. Sitting (left to right): Ida Alice Heaton, Charlotte Louisa Rossell. Hermione Heaton was Charlotte Rossell's goddaughter who came to Australia with them in 1892 as both of her parents had died by 1878. Ida Alice Heaton, her sister, had lived with the Rossells in England and came to Renmark in about 1895. Edith Hollingdrake (nee Heaton) was the girls' cousin in Renmark (see also B 73069/13).

Historical information

'Southfield' was the home of Henry A. and Charlotte (nee Sagar) Rossell of Lancashire, who were early settlers in Renmark. Their home came to Australia in pieces as ballast and was constructed here. 'Southfield' was named after Charlotte's family home in Lancashire.
