General notes

This is one of a series of photographs collected by A.E.H. Evans (1871-1950) Adelaide accountant, auditor and secretary during the time he was organising secretary of the King Edward VII Memorial Committee. Other photographs in the collection (B22247-22252) were donated by his company in 1971.

The caption for the photograph reads: 'The King Edward VII memorial statue by Mr Bertram Mackennal, A.R.A., M.V.O., as it will appear when erected in Adelaide, probably in front of the Adelaide Circulating Library. The cost, £6,000, was raised by public subscription some years ago, and the work was practically completed when the war intervened. The figures of His Majesty and the symbolical group of South Australia (in front), and Peace and Justice at the sides are in bronze and the pedestal in granite, the combined height being 32 feet. The memorial will be shipped from England this year.'
