Summary

Possibly taken during the Adelaide Jubilee International Exhibition of a bearded native with a bark canoe and spear, a native garden with a grass tree, oak trees, rock pond and tall grasses, taken in the Jubilee Exhibition Building grounds. Behind is a sign advertising 'Cast Iron Pipes" and the buildings of the 'James Martin Engineers Ltd. Foundry, Gawler and J. Colton', ca.1887-1888

Items 35-44 inclusive are postcards with non- South Australian content - details are: 35. A high domed rotunda, possibly St Paul's, London, behind a building with columns, high arched balconies and fancy decorations over the entrance, possibly 1882 when F.E.H.W. A church, possibly in Europe, and a four storey crucifix above three grottos with religious statues.ca.1882; 44. 'Florinde - Winterhalter', ca.1882.

Historical information

The son of Friedrich E. H. W. Krichauff (1824-1904), Frederick Charles Krichauff married Elizabeth Alcie Gemmell in 1898. In addition to his photography, Krichauff was an architect (he designed the Hazelwood Park rotunda) and a member of the Royal Philatelic Society. He lived in Portrush Road, Toorak Gardens in the later part of his life and died in 1954 aged 92.
