Historical information

William Glover Humphries was born in London, England in 1812. He married Lucy Gill in London on 11 June 1833, where he worked as a shoemaker. The couple, together with their infant son William John Humphries, arrived in Adelaide on 9 February 1837 aboard the 'John Renwick'. The family settled in Waymouth Street, Adelaide, where William worked as a baker. He subsequently lived at Balhannah and Blakiston before settling at Nairne, where he died 16 July 1881.
