Mosaic identifies portrait subject with Hannigan's Gap [station].

Place written under portrait has variant spelling Oanagin. In a letter to The Advertiser, 8 January 1941, Herbert M Hale, Director of the South Australian Museum, noted the corruption of the name, from the rendering of an Aboriginal term Owienagin to Owanegan to the pronunciation O-Whanegan to the twentieth century's Hannigan's Gap.
