Summary

[General description] Troubridge Island Lighthouse stands next to the Lighthouse Keeper's residence, a weatherboard iron roofed house. Of cast iron construction, the lighthouse was first lit in 1856 and deactivated in 2001. It is painted in red and white with 3 broad stripes, height is approximately 24 metres. It was built in 1855 in response to the wrecking and grounding of many vessels on theTroubridge Shoal of which the Island forms a part. [On back of photograph] 'Troubridge Island Lighthouse / 1 mile SE of Edithburg'.
