Historical information

Benjamin Archer Kent (1808-1864) attended Medical School at Edinburgh University and was awarded his MD by the University on 11 March 1831. On or after 14 March 1831 he married Marjory Redman Bona (1811-1859) of Edinburgh, with who he had four children, two girls born in England and a boy and a girl born in Australia (arriving in Adelaide in 1840). After his first wife died he married, in London, Josephine Newman (1837-1928), daughter of John Newman of The Brocas, Woodville Road, Woodville, S.A. There were four children of the second marriage, of whom three survived to have children of their own. In September 1877. Dr Kent was Provincial Grand Master of the Provincial Grand Lodge of South Australia (of English Freemasons). He returned to England some time before his death in London on 25 November 1864.
