Summary

[On front of photograph] 'Memory Cove. Showing tablet erected 21st February, 1897.' [General description] Four men are posing, two on each side, of the recently erected memorial tablet, those on the right appearing to be officials. In the background is mallee scrub. This tablet replaces the original erected by Matthew Flinders in 1802, after the accidental drowning of eight of his ship's company. See B 7226 for a close up view of this new tablet and its inscription. See B 2245 fo the fragments of the original.
