Summary

[On front of photograph] 'Port Lincoln. Looking north west, 1897.' [On back of photograph] 'S.S. Ferret at the jetty.' [General description] This view shows the sweep of the bay with its sandy beach in the foreground and partially cleared countryside behind. Township buildings can be seen along the shoreline. In the centre, the iron steamship S.S. Ferret is moored at the jetty. Built in Glasgow in 1871 she was wrecked at Reef Head in 1920 in foggy conditions. See B 33393 [duplicate copy at PRG 458/1/1/36, PRG 458/1/1/54, and PRG 458/1/1/142].
