Historical information

Hugh Edgar was a friend and colleague of Charles Winnecke, with whom he went on a number of survey expeditions. His expertise was the horses and camels. He went with Winnecke on the 1894 Horn Expedition. In the photo, I think that is him in white shirt and knee high boots sitting on the ground in front. (This picture may be mirror image.) Hugh was born in 1858 and he died in 1916. His father was John 'McPherson' Edgar (born Scotland 1828?). Hugh married Jane Marr from Scotland. See also the photo of Hugh with Taylor.
