General notes

Mosaic coordinate: 14D.

This portrait is mistakenly identified as Sarah Thorpe, formerly Steer, 1797-1868, on page 9 of 'The Thorpe family history 1797?-1978' published in 1978. The identification of Eliza Mildwaters is confirmed by the publication of this portrait in the Observer newspaper, 7 September 1907, p. 29 in conjunction with her obituary. There was inter-marriage between the Thorpe and Mildwaters families in 1895.
