Summary

South Australian Institute and the Public Library, North Terrace. These buildings were constructed in 1860. the Institute was designed by Edward Hamilton in an Italianate design with a portico and quickly became the focal point of cultural life of Adelaide. Visitors were able to take their dogs into the library and reading room.
