Summary

Newland Memorial Congregational Church, Victor Harbor. This original church was built in 1868 and was named in honour of the Reverend Ridgeway Newland who arrived in Encounter Bay with 34 settlers. After a fatal carriage accident Reverend Ridgeway Newland was buried beneath the pulpit in his chapel. His remains were later removed to the Victor Harbor cemetery. A new church was built in 1927 and the old church became the church hall.
