Summary

Unveiling of tablet on "Protector" gun at Windsor Green, Elizabeth October 23, 1962: l-r Lieut. Comdr. J.W. Homewood MBE (Executive Officer HMAS Torrens), A.B. Hastings, (Property Officer S.A. Housing Trust), J.P. Cartledge (Chairman Housing Trust), The Hon. The Premier Sir Thomas Playford, Cmdr. David Nicholls (HMAS Torrens). The Department of Navy presented a late 19th century gun to the City of Elizabeth. At this time the Navy in conjunction with the RSL were distributing wartime memorabilia to communities around Australia for safe keeping. When Windsor Green became a car park the gun was removed to the Elizabeth Navy Club in Elizabeth South
